The Story of Meeting Yourself

When the first rays of morning sunlight slipped in through the window, Radha looked at herself in the mirror.

The same daily tiredness was on her face, the same question in her eyes -

“Am I really happy?”

She was a woman… who smiled for everyone but often forgot her own smile.


From the kitchen at home to the desk at the office, her steps never stopped.

Sometimes as a mother, sometimes as a daughter, sometimes a wife, sometimes a friend-she played every role with complete sincerity.

But one role was left behind - her own.


One day, in the pages of a book, she read- “Meeting yourself is also a kind of meeting.”

And from that very day, her journey began.


First Step: Listening to Yourself


For the first time, she listened to her heart. That voice was saying- “I am tired… but I don’t want to give up.”

That day she made herself a cup of tea, for no special reason.

Sitting by the window, she remembered her dreams again- those old dreams that had been buried under the weight of responsibilities.


Second Step: Befriending Yourself


Now she began to smile at her reflection in the mirror. Slowly, she learned- to pat her own back, to hug herself, and most importantly… to forgive herself.

She said to herself- “You are not weak, you are tired… and being tired is a sign of being human.”


Third Step: Loving Yourself


Now when Radha walked, her head was held a little higher.

Because she knew- she was no longer living only for others, now she was living for herself too.

She learned that saying “no” is also a form of love- love for oneself.


Every Woman’s Story


Radha’s story is, in truth, every woman’s story- who spends the whole day taking care of the world, but at night goes in search of herself.


If you too have ever lost yourself in your own noise, then take a moment today- to meet yourself.


Hold your heart gently, look into your own eyes, and say to yourself- “You are amazing. You never let yourself break.”


Because this is the truth-

when a woman meets herself, she becomes not just her own light, but the light of the whole world.

MY FIRST PICNIC - 2001

                       In 2001, I was 13 and my school had planned a picnic to Korambhi mandir, a beautiful temple on a hill near the bank of the Wainganga river in Bhandara district. For weeks everyone was excited - except me. It wasn't just picnic, it was the first time our whole class was going somewhere outside. But my parents said no. They had their reasons - maybe money or may be they didn't think it was safe. But at 13, all I knew was that everyone else was going and I wasn't.
